Across-the-card double with BURN SOME DUST & OUR KYLIE

Burn Some Dust: held on by a head

BURN SOME DUST battled gamely in the closing stages of the opening mile Nursery at Ayr yesterday to win by a head! Joey Haynes partnered Dan Gilbert’s homebred son of Shirocco who was having his first start since being gelded. That, and the step up in trip on his handicap debut saw him get his head in front at the fourth attempt.

Our Kylie: notched up her eighth victory since joining us in March 2016

OUR KYLIE and Kaine Wood were back in the winner’s enclosure at Sedgefield less than two hours later with a comfortable success in the 2m1f Handicap Hurdle.

The daughter of Jeremy was following up victory on her most recent outing over course and distance last month when putting a disappointing run in the Mares Handicap Hurdle at the Galway Festival well and truly behind her.

Settled towards the inside in behind the leading pair for much of the race, she was slightly outpaced after the third last before staying on well to take it up approaching the last. Jumping the final flight with ears pricked she kept on well to score by two lengths.

Our Kylie was notching up her eighth victory from 11 starts since joining us in March 2016!

Kaine was partnering his third winner over hurdles and 12th under National Hunt rules and with eight winners on the Flat before switching codes, Kaine has now reduced his 7lb claim to 5lbs.
