Definitly Red more than likely heading to Aintree next

Definitly Red remains in great form following his third place finish in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby 10 days ago and the Grade 2, 188bet.co.uk Many Clouds Steeple Chase at Aintree next month looks likely to be his next race, all being well.

Phil Martin’s eight-year-old was beaten a fair way into third on his seasonal reappearance but Danny was not hard on him in that ground when third was clearly the best he was going to achieve. He would have appreciated better ground and Brian is hoping he will get that at Aintree next month, although with the English weather you wouldn’t know at this stage...

LITTLE JO wins at Newcastle

LITTLE JO kept on well to take the first division of the 1m Handicap at Newcastle yesterday evening.

Ben Robinson partnered the three-year-old who was making his debut for us. Settled in behind the leaders as they went no pace early on, he always had plenty of daylight and as they picked it up two out Little Jo kept on gamely in the final furlong to score quite comfortably in the end...

Goffs UK Autumn Sale 2017

Following on from the Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale last week where 13 of the 14 horses we sent down there found new homes, we have a further seven heading to Doncaster for their Autumn Sale today. The two-day sale got underway yesterday with an afternoon of Yearlings going through the ring. They are followed by a day of Horses In Training.

Our horses will be stabled in Barn F and can be viewed prior to going through the ring. Brian and Claire will be at Doncaster...

ARCHIVE wins at Ayr

ARCHIVE made his debut for us a winning one, taking the 2m½f Handicap Chase at Ayr by three lengths in the hands of Henry Brooke yesterday.

Settled towards the rear, he did not jump the first two fences well, making quite a hash of the second, but he was much better at the third and Henry gave him plenty of time to recover. Making steady headway, he crept into the race and was travelling well in mid-division not too far off the pace with three to jump. Staying on well in testing conditions he jumped the last in front and galloped all the way to the line...

TRAVELTALK wins at Redcar

TRAVELTALK was given a good ride by Ben Robinson to take the 1m2f Seller at Redcar yesterday.

Chased out of stall one to get a good position, he travelled well in third before being pushed along three out. He stayed on really well in the final two furlongs to score by two and three-quarter lengths. The gelded son of Fast Company has appreciated the step up in trip having run well on his two outings previously over 1m2f and it was great to see him get his head in front this year...

Tattersall’s Autumn Horses In Training Sale 2017

The Tattersall’s Autumn Horses In Training Sale gets underway tomorrow with 1,757 lots catalogued to go through the ring. The sale has been expanded to five days for the first time ever.

Spring Cottage Stables has a draft of 17 catalogued to go through the ring in addition to Roar (Lot 831) who is consigned by Jamie Railton. Roar (pictured) will be stabled in WB V486 with our 17, which are split between three days – Wednesday through Friday - stabled in Highflier Paddock E prior to the sale...

SEEBRING continues a good few days with victory at Wolverhampton

It was great to see SEEBRING finally get his head in front in the six furlong Classified Stakes at Wolverhampton yesterday evening.

The three-year-old Tagula gelding was given a good ride by Stevie Donohoe who, away well from stall three, was chased a long to get a good position, handy towards the inner. Ridden turning in, he took the lead inside the final furlong and kept on well to score by a neck...

BARRYS JACK wins third race on the bounce

BARRYS JACK stayed on gamely to take the Bet At racinguk.com Intermediate Handicap Hurdle at Carlisle yesterday.

Kaine Wood was back in the saddle following victory over course and distance earlier in the month and gave the seven-year-old another good ride. Settled on the inside, he travelled enthusiastically off a steady pace before being slightly outpaced as they quickened leaving the back. Pushed along he stayed on to take second approaching the final flight and battled gamely up the run in to get his head in front with half a furlong to go. Once in front he stayed on well going away to score by two and a half lengths...

Thrilled with RAVENHILL ROAD as he canters home at Sedgefield on hurdling debut

RAVENHILL ROAD completely annihilated the opposition in the 2m1f Maiden Hurdle at Sedgefield yesterday in the hands of Brian Hughes.

Making his seasonal and hurdling debut, the Exit To Nowhere gelding travelled with ease throughout, settled on the inner in mid division. Creeping up effortlessly he soon moved into third before taking up the running after the third last. Still cantering, he jumped the final two hurdles well and Brian just kept him up to his work after the last. He won impressively by 23 lengths...

Brian excited about Ravenhill Road

Ravenhill Road has entries pencilled in this week and, ground permitting, will be making his hurdling debut as he reappears following a lengthy break.

Winner of his only start in an Irish Point prior to purchase, the Exit To Nowhere gelding, who runs in the familiar colours of owner Phil Martin, won both his bumpers impressively at Market Rasen and Doncaster last season and was being aimed at the championship bumper at the Cheltenham Festival before meeting with a minor setback which forced him to miss the rest of the season...
