Tonto in great form ahead of crack at Group 3 Timeform Jury Stakes

Top Notch Tonto is in great form ahead of the Timeform Jury Stakes at Haydock on Saturday and providing the track gets a little more rain he will line up.

Dropping back to seven furlongs for his third start this season, the five-year-old has run with credit on both outings so far this year and although he’s dipping in class to a Group 3, Brian explained its more like a Group 1 contest such is the competition.

With Silvestre De Sousa banned Ben Curtis, who is flying right now, steps in for the ride.

Brian said: “He came back from Newbury fine. It was obviously one of the toughest Lockinge Stakes we’ve seen...

MULTI GRAIN gets up to win at Thirsk

Multi Grain was given a great ride by Dale Swift to land the Join The Racing UK Club Handicap by a short head at Thirsk on Wednesday.

Dropping back down in trip following her reappearance over 1m2f earlier this month, the daughter of Sir Percy was settled in mid-division following a smart break from stall 11. Making progress three out, she stayed on well in the final two furlongs of the mile contest and always looked like she would get there despite the slim margin...

A one-two in the 2m H'cap at Haydock courtesy of SEAMOUR and Totalize while SAPTAPADI scores at Catterick

Seamour and Totalize finished first and second respectively in the Betfred Membership "Play Your Way" Handicap at Haydock on Saturday with Brian confirming afterwards the pair will now head for the Northumberland Plate all being well.

Ten minutes earlier Saptapadi (pic left) made the most of a significant drop in class taking the Toteplacepot Classified Claiming Stakes by three-and-three-quarter lengths...

Tonto fine after Lockinge

Top Notch Tonto put in a very respectable performance to finish six-and-three-quarter lengths behind Night Of Thunder in the Group 1 Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on Saturday. Silvestre De Sousa was back on board for the five-year-olds second start of the season. Although officially described as ‘good’ the ground was riding fast...

DBS Spring Horses In Training Sale 2015

The Spring Horses In Training Sale gets underway at Doncaster today with a catalogue of 365 set to go under the hammer during the two-day auction, which concludes tomorrow afternoon. The Spring Store Sales follow on immediately and conclude on Wednesday. Spring Cottage Stables has a draft of six catalogued to go through the ring on Tuesday including Saddlers Deal who won the 2m4½f Handicap Chase at Bangor-on-Dee on Saturday in good style under Craig Gallagher.

Brian and Claire will be in attendance and would be delighted to chat or advise anyone interested in purchasing either from the Horses In Training catalogue or the Stores catalogue.

We still have several nice two-year-olds for sale too, all of which are progressing nicely...

SADDLERS DEAL wins well…

Saddlers Deal ran out a comfortable winner of the Bet With Corbettsports Handicap Chase at Bangor-on-Dee on Saturday under a good ride by Craig Gallagher. Fourth last time over a shorter trip, the ten-year-old was back up to 2m4½f here and, fitted with cheek-pieces once again, travelled strongly throughout and jumped well. Settled in rear during the early part of the race, he made steady progress...

Across-the-card double

GERRY THE GLOVER got our day off to a flyer with a comfortable victory in the Pertemps Network Handicap at Haydock on Saturday. Partnered by Ben Curtis, the three-year-old Approve gelding was stepping back up to a mile for his third start of the season and was encountering soft ground for the first time in his career...

Just ten minutes later, AWJAB put in a gutsy performance to land the 6f Maiden Stakes at Nottingham under a strong ride from Tom Eaves. Away well and always traveling up with the pace...

FLEET DAWN wins at Worcester‏

Fleet Dawn took advantage of a step up in trip and a drop in class to take the 2m4f Handicap Hurdle at Worcester on Thursday under a good ride from Felix De Giles. Settled in mid-field he started making headway over three out and, taking it up after the last, stayed on well to the line. We were delighted to see Fleet Dawn get his head in front and his win makes us two from two in the new British National Hunt season.

Northgate Lad followed up a very promising second...

LIGHTNING strikes at Beverley

Echo Of Lightning scored on his second outing of the season taking the Racing Again On Tuesday May 12 Handicap at Beverley yesterday in the hands of Tom Eaves. Always handy, the five-year-old hit the front with a furlong to run and kept on well to take the extended seven-furlong event by a length from favourite, Shamaheart...
