Ben Robinson - Apprentice (5)

Ben joined the team in October 2014 and took out his Apprentice license in February 2016 having completed the Apprentice Jockey License Course at the British Racing School. He had his first ride in March that year and in June 2017 Ben partnered his 20th career winner subsequently reducing his 7lb claim to 5lbs.

He works hard on his fitness, stamina and use of the whip and his riding has improved beyond all recognition. Last year he partnered 36 winners from 290 rides and with 42 winners to his name going into the 2018 Flat Turf season Ben just needs eight winners to reduce his claim to 3lbs. A crack at the Apprentice Championship is also on the cards this year.

Connor King - Flat & Jumps

Connor joined the yard in August 2017 to focus more on the National Hunt game.

With 125 Flat winners to his name and the 2013 & 2015 Irish Champion Apprentice Jockey titles, Connor was associated with Irish trainers David Wachman, Johnny Murtagh, Joseph O’Brien and Enda Bolger.

Having taken out his Jumps License this season, Connor rode six times over hurdles in Ireland before making the move to England. He has since had 40 rides under National Hunt rules and although yet to get off the mark it is only a matter of time. He schools plenty for us at home and rides out for other trainers too.

Our 2017 Flat campaign was very up and down and moderate at best but we have put that well and truly behind us and are looking forward to a successful Flat Season in 2018. Ben Curtis and Tom Eaves in addition to our talented apprentice Ben Robinson partner a lot of our flat horses.

Our focus is now fully on the National Hunt season and Danny Cook (pictured), Brian Hughes & Henry Brooke will continue to ride the majority of our jumpers when available as well as Connor King and our Conditional Kaine Wood.

Our policy generally is to use the best jockey available who’s riding style most suits our horse that day. Some owners also have their own jockey preferences and we always try to accommodate when possible.
