It was a fantastic result for the team yesterday at York, when Tolstoy, owned by Kristin Strangeway, gave our 16 year old apprentice jockey, Shay Farmer, his first winner in only his second ever race. It was the opening race on the card, the ‘Andy Thornton Hospitality Furniture Apprentice Handicap’ over 7f. Having dwelt at the start and held up midfield, they were a bit short of room, but Shay switched right and kept on well inside the final furlong to win by 2 lengths.
