It was a great Saturday for the team.
After his fantastic win at the Knavesmire on Friday, Tolstoy made a very quick reappearance, in the ‘Sky Bet Proud To Support Macmillan Handicap’ over 7f. Partnered by Ben Robinson on this occasion, he once again was slowly away, made headway into midfield at halfway, and ridden out inside the final furlong to win by 1/2 a length. It was a gutsy performance to win twice in 24 hours.
In the last race at Hexham, Dinons was having his first start for us, and his first since winning at the track in June 2022 for his previous connections. Ridden by Craig Nichol for his new owners Richard & Katherine Gilbert, he jumped off and made all, and despite a couple of little mistakes went further clear of his rivals to win by 10 lengths, completing an across the card double for the team.
This was Brian’s 600th National Hunt winner and brought the total tally to 1440.
