Spring Cottage Stables

A stay with horses at its heart.

9 guests, with a sofa bed available on request. Spring Cottage Stables is a four bedroom bungalow set on a working racehorse training yard, the home of Brian Ellison Racing, on the edge of Norton near Malton in North Yorkshire. It’s a proper home from home for racing fans, families and anyone who fancies a break somewhere a bit different.

We’re Claire and Brian, and when you stay with us you’re staying on our yard: watch the string head out to the gallops in the morning, meet the horses in the paddock, and book a guided tour of the training yard or animal feeding on site if you’d like to get closer. We’re on hand if you need us, and the hot tub and outdoor barrel sauna will be ready and waiting for your arrival.

Who it suits

Room for families, friends and racing fans.

Families, racing enthusiasts and groups of friends are welcome. The bungalow is particularly well suited to three generations holidaying together. Well-behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement, with a maximum of two. They’re welcome inside the house and in the garden, but must stay off the furniture and beds. Assistance dogs are exempt from the two-dog limit. Groups can book for up to nine guests; we ask that the bungalow isn’t used as a party venue.

Children must be supervised around the hot tub, sauna and yard. The sauna is for guests aged 16 and over on their own, or ages 8 to 15 when accompanied by an adult, for short sessions. No children under 8. The sauna closes by 10pm.

This is a real farmyard setting, so expect early mornings. Our resident cockerel starts the day early. Most guests love the atmosphere, but light sleepers may want to pack earplugs.
