NORTHERN SPIRIT galloped home strongly to take the six-furlong, Grange Park Racing Winning Shared Ownership Handicap at Nottingham yesterday providing Brian with his 1400th career winner as a trainer.
Wearing first-time cheek pieces and partnered by Harry (Russell), the three-year-old gelding was always travelling well on the stand-side rail before taking the lead inside the final furlong. The further they went the more daylight he put between him and the rest of the field, the winning margin three-and-a-quarter lengths.
Owned and bred by Northern Water Services and Brian, the son of Adday, out of Amelia Grace, was notching up his third career success and first on turf. He has been in cracking form this year picking up prize money in all seven starts.
1400 winners trained!
Another milestone reached with Northern Spirit taking Brian’s total career wins, as a dual-purpose trainer, to 1400! A massive team effort. Congratulations to all involved.
