BARON DE MIDLETON completely ran away with the 2m½f, Vertem – Very Different Stockbrokers Handicap Chase at Newcastle yesterday giving Brian’s Racing Club its 50th Winner!
Having his first run back off a wind op, he was always travelling well, up with the pace, under Henry Brooke, in the four-runner field before jumping four out in the lead. There was no stopping him as he powered clear from there, the winning margin, 11 lengths.
Brian told David Carr of the Racing Post: “Sean Quinlan rode him last time when he finished second to a nice horse of Nicky Henderson’s and he said if he could breathe, he’d have beaten him. We’ve had his wind done and he’s a different horse.
Delighted to have notched up 50 winners for Club members. The Brian Ellison Racing Club was launched in Autumn 2017 and has gone from strength to strength. Congratulations to all involved especially those members who have been with the Club since the very beginning!
