It’s no secret that Brian would love to win the Northumberland Plate, which this year falls the day after his 72nd birthday. Brian was born on ‘Plate Day’ in Newcastle 1952, and spent his childhood growing up only a couple of miles from the track, so it’s a race he holds close to his heart.

In 2016, Brian came very close to his dream, when Seamour, owned by Phil & Julie Martin, looked all over the winner, taking the lead 1f out, but only to be denied victory, when Antiquarium came from nowhere, to take over in the last half a furlong. So near … but so far!

Entries for this years renewal closed yesterday, and 4 horses from the yard are on the list. Tashkhan, Onesmoothoperator & Chillhi are all owned Patrick Boyle, and Laafy is owned by Richard & Katherine Gilbert, all fellow Geordies, with the same dream!

Will 2024 be the year it can come true ….. let’s hope so!
