TRAVEL CANDY notched up her third career win, and second over course and distance, when taking the five-furlong racingtv.com/freetrial Nursery Handicap at Catterick last weekend (Saturday 23 September 2023).
Ben Sanderson took a valuable 3lbs off and gave the Dandy Man filly a good ride, sitting just off the pace before chasing her along to take second two out. She battled gamely in a ding-dong battle with the eventual second Zaphea to take the lead close home. She won a shade more cosily than the official winning distance of a head might suggest.
A winner here in July, she then ran well to finish second at Musselburgh before disappointing at Wolverhampton last month. She had wind surgery following that run and it was great to see her bounce back.
She was picked up for £6,500 after winning a claiming race at Beverley in May 2023 for longstanding owners Keith and Joan Brown. Delighted for everyone involved.
