16 Yearlings, 25 entered in HiT Sales, N/H horses flying

Some of our owners have been quite active at the Yearling Sales this year and in addition to several Brian has purchased, and including home-breds, we currently have 16 yearlings in the yard or away being broken.

In with the new and out with the old as the saying goes and that’s exactly what we’re doing. With the youngsters coming in, we’re having a right sort out in the yard; we have 18 entered in the Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale at the end of the month in addition to seven more in the Goffs UK Autumn Horses in Training Sale in November.... We currently have a fantastic team of National Hunt horses and as the Flat starts to wind down – many of our flat horses are now finished – we are really excited about the winter ahead...

Latest on Red

Definitly Red is on target to make his intended seasonal reappearance in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby on Saturday, November 4th, 2017. The eight-year-old travelled away for a racecourse gallop last week and has come out of that really well. He’s in terrific form and Brian is delighted with him...

The Cheltenham Gold Cup has been mentioned as a possible target for Definitly Red this season and depending how he runs on his seasonal debut, plans will start to be formed including whether the Gold Cup is a realistic option...

Update on Forest

Forest Bihan, winner of the feature 2m1f Handicap Chase at Kelso on Sunday has come out of his race well, he’s eaten up and remains in good order as discussions continue as to where he will go next.

Brian is currently considering one of two possible options, the Grade 2 Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter, over 2m1f, on November 7th or the Grade 2 Shloer Chase over two miles at Cheltenham on November 19th...


As the season gets going proper, it was an encouraging start to our National Hunt campaign with a treble at Kelso yesterday.

BARRYS JACK makes winning chasing debut

BARRYS JACK won the two-mile Novices' Handicap Chase at Perth in good style under Danny Cook on what was his first start over fences for us. Fresh and well following a break, he jumped and travelled enthusiastically for much of the race, getting a lead for the first three fences before taking up the running on landing over the fourth. In a little close at the fourth last, and not great at the third last, he jumped the remaining two okay and kept on well to score by three lengths...


The BRIAN ELLISON RACING CLUB is a new membership-only club recently formed by Brian and Claire. Now officially launched, the club currently has five horses in training, Archive, Its Pandorama, Newstart, Riverside Bridge and Secret Passenger, all of which will be running this National Hunt season...

FROZON wins at Wolverhampton

FROZON got up in the final stride to win the 1m4f Handicap at Wolverhampton last night under a good ride by Ben Robinson.

Positioned one off the rail, just in behind the leaders, Andy Barnes Kheleyf gelding travelled well throughout and settled much better today despite the pace not a strong one. As they turned for home they quickened and Frozon kept on well to get his head in front on the line...
