BALTY BOYS takes Gp 3 Superior Mile

BALTY BOYS took the Superior Mile in impressive style at Haydock on Saturday under a good ride by Silvestre De Sousa.

Always well positioned throughout the Group 3 contest, sitting second for the best part of the race, he powered home in the final furlong going away to score by a length and a half.

A winner at Newmarket back in May, he has put in some cracking performances in defeat since and fully deserved this win. We are absolutely delighted for the owners, Matt who rides him out at home everyday and the whole team here at Spring Cottage...

ROCK ON BOLLINSKI scores at Newcastle’s final flat meeting on Turf

ROCK ON BOLLINSKI got up on the line in a nail-biting finish to land the two-mile Gowland & Dawson Handicap under Barry McHugh. Sitting nearer the rear of the field than the front for much of the race, the five-year-old stayed on strongly in the final half furlong, having got into all kinds of trouble in running, to lead close home.

Brian was delighted to secure a winner at Newcastle on the final day of Flat Racing on Turf at the track and told sportinglife.com: “It's a shame that's it for Flat racing on the grass here - you'd think it was big enough to have two tracks - but I do think it will be the best all-weather track in the country when it's finished..."

The two-day DBS September Horse In Training Sale gets underway on Wednesday September 2nd with a 10am start scheduled.

Spring Cottage Stables consigns two, Fleet Dawn (Lot 135) and Canny Kool (Lot 136). Both are stabled in Barn C and will be showing prior to selling on Wednesday afternoon.

Canny Kool, a gelded son of Kheleyf, has an abundance of speed, a fantastic temperament and continues to go from strength to strength. A winner at two, he got his three-year-old campaign off to the best possible start this year with a runaway victory at Ripon under Graham Lee...

VIENS CHERCHER bolts up…

VIENS CHERCHER absolutely bolted up in the Grosvenor Casino Newcastle "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle (Betfred Hurdle Series Qualifier) at Sedgefield on Thursday evening. Danny Cook was on board.

The gelded son of Milan was purchased out of France earlier this year by owner Phil Martin and was making his British debut as well as his first start for the yard. Returned the 8/15f, Viens Chercher took up the running after the fifth in the 2m1f contest and, always travelling strongly, put in a good round of jumping, going on to win by 19 lengths, eased down...

BABY BALLERINA & CABELO score at Catterick

It was a good afternoon at Catterick with a double courtesy of BABY BALLERINA and CABELO. Both were partnered by apprentice Gearoid Brouder and both fillies won in the colours of Julie and Keith Hanson. Baby Ballerina just got up on the line in the 5f juvenile maiden under a confident ride from our 7lb claimer who rides her out every day at home while Cabelo bolted up in the 3yo, 7f Handicap...

Market Rasen double courtesy of FAIR LOCH & MANHATTAN SWING

It was a good evening at Market Rasen with two winners; FAIR LOCH absolutely bolted up in the Bethany And Faye Manterfield "Hands And Heels" Selling Hurdle (Conditional Jockeys & Amateur Riders) under a good front-running ride by conditional jockey Harry Cobden while an hour later MANHATTAN SWING landed the feature race of the night, the Geoff And Andy Manterfield Handicap Hurdle, in the hands of Richard Johnson...

Back-to-back wins for BARAWEEZ in feature race on final day of Galway Festival

Baraweez landed the Irish Stallion Farms EBF "Ahonoora" Handicap for the second successive year on the final day of the Galway Festival under a great ride by Donnacha O’Brien.

Placed in the Topaz Mile, also for the second time, on Tuesday, Baraweez was settled on the inside rail by the 5lb claimer before switching wide to mount his challenge rounding the home turn. He stayed on well and battled gamely to get up by a neck from Pintura close home.

Owned by Andrew Barnes, the gelded son of Cape Cross was returned the 7/4 favourite but it was touch and go all week regarding his participation.

Brian said afterwards: "We've had a hard week with him. He had an abscess in his foot and was lame all week but my staff have done a great job and the vet here was also a great help.

"He only came sound this morning and if the race was yesterday he wouldn't have run. David Cottle cantered him two furlongs this morning and he was fine afterwards...

Blue Bullet third in Galway

Blue Bullet ran a cracker to finish third in the Ladbrokes Red Day Handicap on ground far softer than his liking. Owned by Claire, Donnacha O’Brien partnered the Red Clubs gelding and, attempting to make all, was only headed in the final 100 yards of the seven furlong contest.

First British success for apprentice Gearoid Brouder as ART WORLD wins at Thirsk

Art World kept on well to take the 3-4yo, five furlong Maiden at Thirsk on Friday afternoon providing apprentice Gearoid Brouder with his first British success on his second ride since joining the yard in June.

Unraced as a juvenile, the Art Connoisseur gelding was having only his fourth career start and his first on a good to soft surface. Sitting third of the four runners, upsides the second and a good way behind the leader, Art World made good headway two out before taking the lead with a furlong to run. He stayed on well to the line to win comfortably...

Baraweez runs a blinder in Galway

Baraweez ran a blinder to finish second in the Topaz Mile Handicap at Galway on Tuesday.

Partnered by Donnacha O'Brien in the feature event on the second evening of the Galway Festival, Baraweez was always travelling well in behind the leaders before kicking for home as they rounded the turn. He battled gamely when headed but could not quite peg back the winner, Hint Of A Tint, who went on to score by half a length...
