OUR KYLIE notches up win number six

OUR KYLIE notched up her sixth win from eight starts since joining Spring Cottage Stables when taking the 1m6f Handicap, in a desperately close finish, at Carlisle yesterday. Partnered by Ben Robinson, she was never too far off the pace sitting third of the four-runner field for much of the race, before being ridden along over four from home. Staying on to take it up inside the two, visibly idling with ears pricked once in front, she battled gamely when hard-pressed by the eventual second, inside the final half-furlong, to cross the line a nose in front...

Across-the-card double with ITS PANDORAMA & VALENTINO BOY

ITS PANDORAMA ran out a comfortable winner of the 2m6f Maiden Hurdle at Cartmel yesterday. Partnered by Henry Brooke, the seven-year-old was stepping up in trip following his second at the track back in May...

VALENTINO BOY practically made all under Ben Robinson to take the extended seven-furlong Apprentice Handicap at Chester providing us with a double on the day. Away well from a wide draw...

SCOTTSDALE impressive in bumper

SCOTTSDALE landed the bumper in impressive style at Market Rasen yesterday.

Andy Barnes’ lightly raced four-year-old was partnered by Brian Hughes; always well positioned on the rail, up with the pace and travelling nicely, he took up the running with over four-furlongs to run. He stayed on strongly all the way to the line to post a six-length victory.

OUR KYLIE & Laura Wilson win Ladies' Derby at Ripon

OUR KYLIE, partnered by our head girl, Laura Wilson, took the Old Mutual Wealth PCA Ladies' Derby Handicap at Ripon yesterday.

Drawn on the wide outside, Our Kylie broke well and Laura soon had her settled towards the rear of the field. Always travelling well, she switched wide to make good headway over three out, cruising up to join the leaders. Taking it up with over two furlongs to run she stayed on well, despite wandering around and idling in front, to win by three-parts of a length with ears pricked. She won a shade more cosily than the winning margin would suggest...

York victory for BE KOOL

We were delighted to get a winner at York yesterday courtesy of BE KOOL who was given a good ride by Cam Hardie to take the seven-furlong Handicap.

Fitted with the visor once again, Be Kool broke well and travelled nicely up with the pace before taking it up with over a furlong to run. Kicking clear inside the final furlong he stayed on strongly to win by a length-and-three-quarters...

Seamour in great form

Seamour is in terrific form and remains on target for another crack at the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle later this month.

Ben Robinson partnered Phil Martin’s Azamour gelding in a piece of work over 1m2f on what was perfect ground at Pontefract racecourse yesterday and he delighted everyone. He looks a picture and is in fantastic form.

Brian said: “He worked exceptionally well and I’m over the moon with him.”

MISS RANGER wins at Chester

MISS RANGER stayed on well to take the Crabbie's Handicap at Chester yesterday in the hands of Franny Norton.

Despite missing the break, Franny soon had her up in contention and travelling well on the inner, taking the shortest way round until drifting off the rail as they turned for home. She stayed on strongly in the last furlong going away to win comfortably by a length.

The daughter of Bushranger was following up a good second at Doncaster over a shorter trip just eight days ago and she saw out the mile and a half on soft ground well...

Ben Robinson reduces claim to 5lb

Earlier this week Ben Robinson partnered his 20th career winner subsequently reducing his 7lb claim to 5lbs.

We’ve been having a slightly lean time of it of late here at Spring Cottage but Ben has been securing plenty of outside rides with his 20th career victory coming aboard the John O’Shea-trained Kinglami in the Watch Racing UK In HD Apprentice Handicap at Hamilton on Wednesday. In what is only his second season race riding Ben has improved beyond all recognition and continues to do so under Brian’s guidance. He’s dedicated and works hard at home and looks to have a very bright future ahead...

Personal Racehorse Owners – small shares available in Contre Tous

The Racing syndicate, Personal Racehorse Owners has recently purchased 50% of Contre Tous.

A lovely five-year-old gelding by Forestier, he has won two over fences at Market Rasen before finishing third in a Class 2 event at Warwick. Starting his racing career in France he won his debut bumper and finished second twice and is an exciting new addition to our National Hunt team.

While we still have 50% available ourselves for sale in Contre Tous anyone looking for much smaller shares should contact the Personal Racehorse Owners syndicate...
