BENEFITS OF SOLE OWNERSHIP

Personal Selection & Involvement

  • Be involved from the start with the initial purchase of your horse. Attending the sales with a knowledgeable professional – Brian would be happy to advise or point you in the right direction of a bloodstock agent.

Ongoing Decision making

  • Naming your horse (if the horse is not already named)
  • Choosing your own racing colours
  • Yard visits including watching your horse work on the gallops
  • Liaising with the trainer to discuss your horses’ future plans

The Best Race Day Experience

  • Complimentary owners’ badges when your horse runs
  • Attending the paddock area when your horse runs and discussing the race with the trainer and jockey before and after the race
  • Photographs and videos if your horse wins

Joint ownership

Registered Owners Coming Together

Joint Ownership consists of anywhere between two and 12 people all of whom must be registered owners, with the percentage owned by each individual registered to them. Separate registration is required for each horse within a joint ownership. It is up to you in whose name the horse runs, a chosen joint-ownership name or in the name of one of the owners. A fantastic way to enjoy racehorse ownership with close, like-minded friends.

racing partnership

Owning With a Group Of Friends

This is a great way to start out in racehorse ownership. Between two and 20 individuals can form a Partnership. It is a popular way for a larger group of friends to get involved and only two partners need to be registered as owners.

As a member of a partnership you will be responsible for paying your share of the costs. For example if there are ten people in the partnership you will be responsible for paying ten percent just as any prize money earned will be distributed accordingly.

COMPANY ownership

A Powerful Way To Promote Your Buisness

There are a number of benefits to be gained from Company Ownership. Not only is it a powerful way to promote your business; if the horse is un-named you can name your horse after your company initiating an unparalleled advertising campaign; it also offers a unique opportunity to entertain clients.

With racecourses offering exceptional corporate hospitality packages these days it is a surefire way to set you ahead of your competitors. It is also a great day out for employees, boosting team spirit and strengthening morale.

The horse will be registered in the sole ownership of the company and the company’s shareholders and the company must appoint a Registered Agent to act on its behalf.

   LEASING

A Great Alternative To Purchasing

Leasing is a great alternative if you do not wish to actually purchase a horse. Lease agreements are available for varying time scales or even for just one race. All costs, or those agreed within the lease agreement, become the responsibility of the lessee for the lease period and in return the horse runs in the name of the lessee.

At the end of the lease agreement the ownership of the horse returns to the lessor or legal owner.

Cost Of Leasing A Racehorse

Each month you will receive an invoice which will include daily training fees, routine veterinary fees and farriers expenses.

In addition to the training invoice, racing expenses are charged out per horse; this will vary according to the race meeting.

Gallop fees, entry fees and jockey fees are all paid through a Weatherbys Bank account.

Racing club or syndicate

There are numerous Racing Clubs and Syndicates in operation today – Brian trains for several – offering a huge amount of enjoyment with like-minded racing fans at a fraction of the cost.

Brian Ellison Racing Club was launched in Autumn 2017 by Brian and Claire and the horses in the Club have been purchased by them for the enjoyment of the members. They realised that not everyone can afford, or want to pay the fees that are normally associated with racehorse ownership and that some people prefer to be involved in racing clubs as a chance to meet new people and to enjoy the social life that comes with club memberships.
